Juiceman Electronic Professional Series Edition

I am absolutely pleased with the Juiceman on several counts:

1. powerful
2. machine is light and stores easily
3. non-pulpy juice
4. simple to use, minimal cutting prep
5. easy to clean

It's always interesting to read negative reviews of juicers because quite frequently the issue is that the reviewer didn't do enough market research before buying the juicer. Masticating vs. centrifugal, juices vs smoothies, wheatgrass/no wheatgrass, baby food/sorbet/nut butters/milling grain or not, these are all options we have when we look at the selection of juicers available on the market today.

Example: I had a much more expensive Champion juicer several years back and nearly never used it. I found it bulky, heavy, messy for simple juicing (plus the pulp in the juice was a real turnoff for me) and really a nightmare to clean. When I tried to make almond butter with it I found I had to add a huge amount of sunflower oil to "help" the machine grind the almonds. For someone interested in the other applications the Champion can be used for, perhaps this would have been a great machine. I have met people who adore them. But it was definitely not the right machine for me.

My suspicion with several of the negative reviews here is that the reviewers didn't read over the owner's manual before they started using the machine and unwittingly damaged their juicers. And yes, you can get replacement blades--in fact, it's recommended that you replace the blade every 2-3 years or when the pulp begins to seem a bit wet. They cost about $40 online, I believe.

The Bottom Line: If you are interested in non-pulpy, quick juice drinks with minimal fuss and easy clean up, the Juiceman is a terrific machine at a very good price and holds up well (have had mine for about seven years).

One Caveat: You would do well to have a bottle brush or toothbrush on hand to quickly clean a couple of corners where pulp likes to lodge--it takes maybe 5-10 seconds to clean them, but thought I'd mention it in case you hate surprises.

  1. It's surprising that previous reviewers find this machine hard to clean. The simple cleanup is why I can live with it! I am hardly the most patient individual and if it's not easy, I usually won't stick with it. The trick is to get a good quality vegetable brush. Use it to clean your vegetables before juicing, and to clean the mesh basket after. I just use water for daily cleanings and soap and water once a week. Less than 2 minutes time for daily cleanup, not too bad if you ask me :)

  2. I've had a tough time making up my mind about a juice extractor. Juiceman is definitely the best option. It requires the least amount of maintenance, is easy to clean and produces good quality juice. Plus there isn't any additional cost in terms of parts/filters etc. I had heard Omega juicers were good as well, but they need disposable filters, so even though they cost about the same, you end up paying more eventually. Juiceman is great and as its name suggests, its meant for those serious about juicing!

  3. Makes great juice quickly. To clean it quickly and easily, take it apart, rinse under cold water, and use a round vegetable brush to swish all the residue off the stainless steel basket. Takes about 3 minutes. I just put all the pieces on a towel to air dry on the kitchen counter because I use it several times a day.

  4. This juicer is a very high quality juicer at an extremely low price. I've used juicers that were $400 and more, and this one blows them all away, for several reasons. The main reason I love this blender so much is the ease of cleaning it. It takes a mere minute or two to clean this sucker, when I've spent 5 minutes cleaning other juicers. The Juiceman II also juices basically any vegetable you throw at it, unlike other juicers. I've had no problem juicing the toughest of greens like kale, and even wheatgrass, which some say you need to buy a seperate juicer for. Hogwash! The Juiceman II does it just fine.I'm on my second model, because the first one died after about 2 or 3 years of use. So it's pretty durable from my experience. The reason it died was I tried to juice a frozen banana, which is not recommended. Anyway, great model, and I'm glad I own one.

  7. Greetings! My girlfriend and I purchased this unit over a year ago and absolutely love it. We use it everyday and have had no problems at all. I really don't understand why Tom's unit (see review this page) is having those problems. Our unit is virtually vibration free, we have no leakage problems, it is powerful enough to handle carrots/pineapple/celery easily, and clean up is very easy (takes less than 5 minutes). I cannot comment on the phone call wait as I have had no reason to complain. I highly recommend the Juiceman - I have no regrets.

  9. I purchased 3 units - 2 for family members as gifts and 1 for my home. If you intend to prepare just 1 glass of juice, I do not recommend this machine. For multiple glasses over a period of time or for larger quantities, I highly recommend it. I find that it is easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble. I did read the easily followed instructions that are in the booklet provided and highly recommend that purchasers do so.

I enjoy using this machine. Due to digestion problems, it is imperative for me to be juicing as much as possible. The Juiceman is the only juicer I have used. The cutter/screen is very fine and the juice is extremely pulp free. Occasionally the pulp may build up unbalanced in the cutter/screen and create vibration. This is easily remedied by stopping and brushing the pulp off the screen/cutter by hand. Cleaning is very easy. Many people have told me that I look to be in better health since getting the juicer.
