Omega Quality For Leafy Greens-

Omega J8003 Single Gear Commercial Masticating

I've had a lot of juicers over the past 30 years or so, and this is by far the best yet. I waited a few years to review this one so I could give a more accurate account of my experience. Mainly I use it a few times a week to make about a pint of green juice -- mostly for raw organic greens (kale, chard, dandelion, parsley, spinach) as well as other raw organic veggies such as celery, broccoli, cucumbers and, for flavor, lemon, kiwi and ginger. It handles all of these beautifully. The pulp is quite dry but if I want it even dryer I grab the pulp in a single big handful and run it through again to extract a few more drops leaving the remaining pulp extremely dry. I've occasionally used it for wheat grass and that works quite well too although a dedicated wheat grass juicer might be somewhat more efficient. It's great for frozen desserts as well -- frozen chunks of bananas, mangos, pineapple, baby coconut, etc. put it right through with the blank screen. Yummy! Except for the organic lemons for flavor (a quarter lemon at a time put through peel and all) I've never used it for citrus. Cleanup is the easiest and fastest of any juicer I've ever had. This has the fewest parts and these are a snap to clean. Even the juice screen (the most difficult to clean for most juicers of this type) just rinses out with minimal brushing needed. I do this and reassemble the juicer in just a few minutes while I'm sipping the juice. And while it's not totally silent, it is by far the quietest I've ever had. This juicer leaves many of its more expensive and better advertised competitors behind in the dust! A great value for an excellent juicer!

  1. I am very happy with this juicer. I have juiced almost everything imaginable and it does a great job. Lately I have been grinding cooked meat frequently to make homemade dog food and it works perfect. I love the ease of assembly and clean up. It is a very good quality appliance. I have not tried using it for pasta yet but I believe it will do a great job as so far everything works so well. It isn't too bad as far as the noise it generates either.

  2. I have had 3 centrifugal juicers in the last 10 years and have found them all inadequate. They all produced too much pulp waste vs juice produced and were difficult and time consuming to clean.

With the Omega 8003, I have finally found the juicer of my dreams! It quietly creates great juice from everything especially wheatgrass and other greens like cilantro and parsley. The minimal pulp waste is bone dry!

The juicer doesn't take up much space on my already crowded counter and is a breeze to clean. Takes about a minute as opposed to 10 for my old juicers. I use it daily.

I love this juicer! Highly recommended.

Hello there this is Evo and I'm offering a video review of the Omega 8003 juicer. This is an outstanding juicer and I am so glad I didn't settle for something cheaper. Like stated in the video it has been an absolute JOY to use and have been using it daily for over a month now. With such a big warranty it is no surprise that Omega makes some of the best consumer grade juicers on the market. I hope you enjoy my review!

  4. My last juicer was centrifugal type and lasted 20 years. When it died recently, I started researching a replacement only to find a mind-boggling amount of brands and styles. After all the time invested, I'm glad I decided on this Omega. The juicer is really impressive. Very compact. Quiet. My first item through was frozen bananas using the blank and I may never buy store-bought ice cream again. Next I juiced a combo of veggies and fruits. All processed smoothly, quickly, and effortlessly. The juice is clearly superior to that of my old juicer. No froth, very cold and fresh tasting. The cleanup is NOTHING compared to my last juicer. It cleans completely and quickly; no mess stuck in the screen that you have to work at. Very few parts. Really sturdy. This is a dream juicer, and at this price it's even more incredible. I'm thrilled with it!

  6. I purchased this juicer at least partially out of curiosity. I've had a Champion 25+ years, an Acme for 20, and Breville, L'Equip and Omega centrifugal juicers.

The problem with these centrifugals is that they are awful for leafy greens. The Champion will do leafy greens okay, but I was interested in higher yield. Plus, I do enjoy a shot of wheatgrass and the Champion won't do it at all.

I looked at both twin-gear and single-auger types. Twin-gear juicers are still being developed, so I ended up single-auger. After watching the TriBest infomercial demonstrated by some babe who acted like she was on cocaine, I went to Omega. My Omega centrifugal works flawlessly. I purchased the 8003 over the 8005 or 8006 because I like white appliances.

The 8003 is heavier than it appears in photos. However, it is quite compact, smaller than my Champion. Assembly is quite simple; the auger housing, auger, screen and end cone fit logically and the locking wheels are able to be operated with wet hands. As stated by another reviewer, the feed tube is not large; if one wants to drop whole pieces of fruit in this isn't the juicer for you. This is by far the quietest juicer I've owned.

No, where this juicer excels is with leafy greens. It will happily chomp its way through any green one wants. Unlike the Champion, stringy greens such as celery won't accidentally get wound around the auger. The trick with this juicer is to let the slow-turning auger feed at its own speed, helped with the pusher. BTW if anyone wants to see this juicer in action, go to YouTube and there are several excellent demos. I can run several carrots at a time through the big-mouth Breville; not on this juicer. However, of course, the Breville won't do leafy greens as this one does!

The downside to a white juicer is that carrots and beets can stain. Doesn't bother me, but if that could be a problem, buy the chrome finish one with black peripherals.

I know there has been a model 8006 introduced recently with an auger that's supposed to be several times harder than the melamine one used here. For ~$125 more, I don't see the benefit. I expect the price on the 8006 will drop when the novelty wears off.

If one wants to juice carrots, apples, and other firm fruit, a centrifugal will probably be the juicer of choice. I still use mine for these. However, if one wants to increase leafy greens in one's diet, one of these will definitely fill the bill.
