Read First Before Buy Omega J9000 9000 Juicer

First of all let me say that with all the bad reviews on this item I am shocked at how well mine has performed. I don't know if a bunch of fixed machines are going out as new or what but mine has been excellent from day one.
If you do decide to purchase one and get a great one like mine you will be very happy at the pulp free juice and the quick clean up. Honestly, cleaning up any juicer is a real pain so one like this one with a filter makes clean up a 5 minute job...really nothing to it.
I normally juice carrots, calery, parsley, a beet, and maybe some spinach or Kale. I juice fruit on occassion and though you do get a DANCE from the machine when juicing extremely heavy fruit like oranges or grapefruits, you can avoid it mostly by just juicing slow and not cramming it down the chute and expecting it to juice faster than it is able. Cut the pieces up in small pieces and feed them slow and the juice will extract which will prevent the shimmy in the first place.
The one bad thing with this juicer is if you are juicing a ton of vegetables then you will need to shut the machine off and open the top and switch out the filter but I rarely ever make enough juice to do that.
Stainless steel top, outside bowl, inside strainer, and the actual cutting wheel itself....quality parts that I'm surprised to hear has caused so many others trouble.
The juicer is worth the money to me. Whether the Centrifugal juicers are worse than the others that press the juice is upto debate but the best juicer in all the world is the one you'll use the most. If the best juicer in the world takes 20 minutes to clean and a juicer that gets nearly the benefits as the best can be cleaned in a quarter of the time, then the less will actually be more because you'll reap the benefits of actually using it.
Take my word for it, buy this machine. Get it here on Amazon which has a 30 day return policy and use a credit card for double protection with Paypal. You won't be sorry you bought it.
I have used this Juicer for about 10 years, and think it works fine. However, a very important adjustment needs to be made to reduce the likelihood of an imbalance (causing the juicer to 'dance').
BalasHapusFirst, do note that the blade needs to be changed periodically -- with daily use, I find that a blade lasts about 1 year. It can be used after this time, but requires more pressure and draws out the process of juicing considerably.
When you first receive the juicer, and after changing the blade, the height of the blade needs to be adjusted so that it is just below the bottom of the chute for the vegetables -- if the gap there is too large, things will slip by, and cause the imbalance. Also, as the blade wears, it is best to raise the blade; this is best done a after a month or two and after 6 months. If the dance starts up again, it is time to re-adjust.
To adjust the height, one needs a slotted screwdriver and either pliers or (better) a wrench. On underside of the juicer, at the center, you will see a screw which is locked in place with a nut. With the juicer fully assembled (blade, cover), loosen the nut (just a bit - order of 1/8 turn) with the pliers or wrench. Turn the juicer on for just a tiny moment, so that the blade spins. (If you hear a grinding noise, the blade is already too high -- in this case, start with a CCW turn of the screw!) Turn the screw clockwise (to raise the blade) 1/4 turn, and turn on again for a tiny moment. Continue this until you hear scraping of the blade against the chute; then back off 1/4 turn and give it another short on/off cycle. I find it helpful when backing off that 1/4 to 'drop' the juicer from the height of a few cm or an inch to set the motor down against the screw. Once you have it as high as possible without rubbing, tighten the nut -- not too much force is needed (and too much will crack the plastic).
You may choose to do this again after there is some wear on the blade to compensate for the lowered teeth.
I use it without filters; I have a bread dough scraper made of nylon which I cut to just allow me to scrape clean the inside of the metal basket, and that goes quickly and easily.
It will last forever and it does a great job; I also like that the food surfaces are all stainless steel, so no concerns of plastics in the juice.
So, 5 stars, but it requires some attention from the user. No experience with other models.

Have owned the Omega 9000 Juicer for about 4 years. It is a wonderful juice extractor, and of very high quality. It did start doing "the dance." After reading the review here by "Dilettante," I followed their instructions to rectify this problem, and wella! No more "dancing" machine. It was a simple, easy fix. I would buy another Omega 9000, but probably won't have to for a very long time. It is built to last. I am very happy that I chose this juicer and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a 'top shelf' machine.
BalasHapusI'm amazed that there aren't hundreds of five-star reviews for this item. I shopped for a juicer for MONTHS, literally. After painstaking research - including reading dozens of reviews like this one, and looking at Consumer Reports - I finally decided on the Omega 9000. I wanted the model in black, but shopped at several different websites and couldn't find a black one. So I settled for the white model. That's the only negative comment I can make about the entire transaction. Not only is the juicer easy to use and compact (despite what another Amazon reviewer says, it's much smaller than comparable machines), it's also backed with a 15-year warranty and excellent service. I had a question in my first week of using the Omega and called the number on the instruction booklet: no recorded message, just a friendly, helpful person. As far as the actual operation/performance of the machine, I couldn't be happier. All stainless steel, it's beautiful and sturdy, and built to last that way. A centrifugal machine, it definitely gets all the juice out of the fruits and vegetables. And with the filters (a great value) clean-up takes less than five minutes. Stop looking. This is the one you want. You'll enjoy fresh juice for (at least) the next fifteen years...
BalasHapusUpdate, years later (9/8/2012): this juicer is still running strong. And I stand by every word of the above review. Definitely buy the filters: they make clean up a breeze.
My daughter and I had a lot of fun juicing. Works well, came as described in ad. Helpful for dieting, eating healthy.
