Freshly squeezed juice is a luxury in a world made up of plastic and pasteurization; a juicer is perfect for moms with children or anyone who is keen to make their own juice and come up with their own flavor combinations.

Assembly of the juicer is a snap, with easy to read instructions, and in no time I was ready to start making fresh juice out of fruits and vegetables. I started with the staples, apple and orange juice. Both were easy to make and tasted fresh. Next up I am going to make tomato juice to add to my soups and stews and I am anxious to try beet juice.

This isn't a smoothie maker, so you can't really include anything that doesn't juice easily. Fruits like bananas and strawberries won't work so well; you need something with a lot of juice. Because the juice isn't pasteurized, you should drink it immediately, just like you'd eat a piece of fruit that you'd already bitten into.

The juicer is dishwasher safe except for the juice collector, so easy to clean - I also hand washed it when the dishwasher was full and it wasn't much of a trial. I clean it right after use, as recommended.

I would recommend this machine; it is easy to both use and clean. It's a fantastic luxury to have fresh varieties of juice at any time, and well worth the effort to get this little juicer running.

  1. I haven't owned a juicer in about 10 years. It seemed like more work than it was worth. The prep of cutting the fruits
and vegetables into the right size for the juicer and the cleanup meant I didn't juice as often as I wanted to.
This Krups unit has a large opening for fruits and vegetables. An average sized apple can fit in very easily.
The unit is very powerful and I found that the pulp was very dry so there is very little wasted juice.
Also this unit is easy to take apart and rinse clean if cleaned immediately after use.
With juicers you get what you paid for. You can get a very cheap plastic one or a great quality one.
This one works great and is less expensive than the ones on late night TV.

  2. I'm not experienced in juicing but this is so easy. The feed chute is big enough for an apple and I imagine you can put most veges in with very little trimming, other than to get the bad spots off. I put 5 apples in and had juice in about 20 seconds, beautiful thick stuff, like cider. You don't need to peel or skin it first unless you have something you don't want to eat. My second try was pomegranates. I just chopped one into thirds and ran it through. YUK! It took 2 minutes for my mouth to return to a normal position. The inside pith is very bitter and I just thought I would get juice from the pulp for some reason. Ok, lesson learned. Things like citrus would have to just have the sections removed and put in and pineapple would need to be cored. I only used the high speed and can't understand why you would want to use the lower one.

According to the instructions, it is difficult to extract juice from bananas, avocados, blackberries, figs, aubergines, and strawberries and you shouldn't use the machine for sugar cane or very hard, fibrous fruit. Since apple and pear juices tend to oxidize with contact with air, a few drops of lemon juice is recommended.

Clean-up was a snap for me. Since so much juice comes from the produce, the pulp is crumbly and nearly dry so I just wiped the bulk of it out with my hand and rinsed it under running water and voila, sparkling clean. The only piece that required effort was the stainless steel filter basket. A brush comes with it and I used that inside and out under running water and it was clean. Because of a lip on the top and bottom of the juice collector from where the spout comes out, it's a little trying to get all of the fluid out. About 1/2 teaspoon wants to stay inside.

There is a foam separator in the collection container that has a solid divider but I got foam in my drink, anyway. I don't understand the way it works. A safety clamp holds everything together while you juice and everything is classy-looking, something you wouldn't mind having on your counter all the time if you have the room.

  4. This is a great juicer and it seems moderately priced as compared to some of the other options (a good value). This is my first juicer, so I don't have another model to compare it to, but it is very easy to use and seems to extract the maximum amount of juice from the fruits and vegetables. The extracted pulp is pretty dry. It isn't terribly hard to clean; there are a lot of parts but I assume this is the case with any juicer. All parts can be washed in the dishwasher except the juice collector, but I have been washing the pieces by hand in very hot water immediately after each use and it takes about 10 minutes. The unit was bigger than I expected it to be, but it is comparable to a Keurig size-wise. I can't speak to its longevity because I have only had it for 3 days, but it handles even harder vegetables like carrots, beets, etc... pretty well. I'd highly recommend this juicer.

  5. This is an extremely powerful juice extractor for the money. It has been able to handle whatever veggies and fruits I have thrown at it, and definitely gets a lot of use with my extended family. It is a sturdy and reliable product that looks good, too. Cleaning the unit after use has been relatively simple, as it comes apart quickly and easily and I am able to remove all of the roughage by running it under a faucet (at a high force of warm water). A little soap and a quick rinse and it is ready to go again. There are so many higher priced juicers out there, I think this one makes perfect sense for everyone, especially because it is so affordable.
