Best Review on Tribest SS 9002 Star II Single Auger Extractor

I've had my Solo star Juicer for only a few days, and it is far superior to the "As seen on T.V.", centrifugal juicer that I've had for well over a year now. I've been juicing for about five years now, and this is the type and model, I wish I had from the beginning. Easy to clean, easy to juice most everything. The "As seen on T.V." juicer does require less chopping of the fruit, but the extra work is well worth it. Better quality juice, longer shelf life, more healthy method of juicing. To those of you starting out, don't be fooled, by the lower cost, harder to clean models. Also, the Solo star was cheaper, and produced more juice, than others in it's class, according to independent tests. Don't forget, the masticating juicer is the more delicate juicing method, compared to the centrifugal method, therefore preserving the potent enzymes, and other compounds, that is destroyed by the centrifugal method.

I did as much research as I could online for masticating juicers in this price range and then spent two days deciding between the Omega 8005 and the SoloStar II. Although the Omega seems to be the more dominant product, all the reviews on the SoloStar where excellent. I had hoped for more reviews on Amazon to help me out but there was only one person that had reviewed it. Hence, I'm adding my own to hopefully help someone else out. The juicer is terrific. I had it put together in a matter of a few minutes and as I stared at it, I knew I had to try it out. My other juicer is a centrifugal so I could hardly wait to see the difference. This juicer does an awesome job. I juiced celery, carrots, asparagus, grapes, and an apple right away. I was amazed at how much juice I got. I would have used twice that much fruit and vegetables in the centrifugal juicer. The pulp came out very dry and then for the best part...I had this thing taken apart washed and ready to go again in 3 minutes. It's that easy. Time to scrap the old juicer! If I had to completely dig for a complaint about the juicer I would have to say that I wish the chute was bigger; however, I don't think it is any bigger on any other juicer of this type. I also expected some instructions or a little recipe book and that was not there but no big deal. It did come with a VHS tape which I know I will never watch. The three selling points on this juicer for me where #1 - Dual Stage extraction (which really works - you can see the juice that other juicer would have lost come out of the second stage spout) #2 - Larger Auger #3 - Made by the same company that makes the highly acclaimed Green Star juicers (which are too expensive for me right now). So far, I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
BalasHapusI have to stop and comment about how much i enjoy this juicer. I am new to the juicing experience and so I bought this one based on the reviews of SOLOSTAR I. I got it, used it and was disappointed. The pulp seemed too wet. I then went to Target and bought another juicer with higher rpms. I could throw whole apples in this one and it would grind it up really fast. Not only was the "Jack L-" juicer VERY time consuming to clean up but the juice tasted "cooked" and not fresh. I then tried the SOLOSTAR again and relized I was juicing wrong. Now I have returned the "Jack" juicer and i am enjoying the SOLOSTAR. It even juiced the heck out of spinich! The clean up is all too easy and the little brush it comes with helps a lot. I read a book on juicing and there were a few factors one should consider when buying a juicer #1 ability to produce "live" juice and dry pulp #2 Cost your willing to spend #3 Clean -up
BalasHapusIf you are looking for a juicer that is easy to clean-up, produces "live" and not cooked juice (BIG DIFFERENCE in taste and nutrient content, and is affordable (Affordable great quality machine) Get this.
This is the first juicer I have ever purchased. I am so glad I spent the extra money and purchased this one over a Jack Lulane juicer - it was so worth it. I have been juicing everyday. The juicer is easy to put together and clean. I have been juicing for 2 weeks and have had no problems with the machine. It extracts a tremendous amount of juice from vegetables, however, soft fruits are a little more difficult - sometimes, I put the pulp through a second time just to get as much juicer as possible. I am definitely impressed with this juicer and would recommend [and have recommended] to everyone I know. It does everything - I even made homemade hummus with the juicer, which turned out amazing.
BalasHapusbrilliant juicer. So pleased with it. So easy to clean up and works amazing. only suggestion I have is getting a different brush to clean it. The small one is cool but doesn't quite do the job.

BalasHapusSo easy to use and so easy to clean. I have never "juiced" before so finding out what veggies and fruit worked best for me was a bit of a chore. Finally settled on a recipe from Montel Williams and now I juice everyday. Will add other vegetables as we go for whatever health concern I might have. It's quiet, it does a great job. The screen was a bit hard to clean at first and then I discovered that just "hot water" and the brush that comes with it (and I use both ends of the brush)will really clean it up nice. Worth every penny.
BalasHapusI purchased my Solo Star II in May 2008. I had a couple centrifugal juicers before I purchased the Solo Star II, so I was accustomed to shoving the carrots and other veggies and fruits down the chute quickly and having the juice come out just as fast.
BalasHapusThe directions for the Solo Star II specifically say to cut the fruits and veggies you're juicing into small chunks about 1" long. I thought I could just push the carrots and other veggies down slowly, without cutting them into small pieces. It worked at first, but as time went on, the juicer was backing up, and there were chunks of carrots and other veggies in the juice. And my juicing screen cracked. I had it replaced under warranty.
After I got the new juicing screen, all was working as when I first got the juicer. However, shortly thereafter, the same problems started occurring again. Before I called customer support this time, I went back and read the instruction manual one more time. I decided to follow the instructions to the "t" and see if that made a difference. By George it did! The juicer started working flawlessly again. I experimented and tried cutting the carrots into 1 1/2" pieces when juicing. While the juicer didn't back up and there weren't chunks of carrots in the juice, there was more carrot pulp accumulated on the auger and in the juicing screen. When I went back to 1" pieces, again it worked flawlessly with less accumulation of pulp inside the juicer.
There's something to be said for following the directions - exactly. I've had my Solo Star II for a year now and as long as I take the time to follow the directions "exactly," it works flawlessly.
I'm new to juicing. I spent considerable time reading about juicing and juicers, as this is my first experience. Based on my research, I chose a masticating juicer over the centrifigal. Maticating takes more fruit/vegetable preperation time and more time for cleanup; but I, and others, think it's worth it for a superior end result.
BalasHapusAlthough the SoloStar II is at the lower price-end of masticators (but generally more expensive than centrifigals), this juicer is of good quality, performs as advertised, and I am pleased with my selection.
Some of the accessory parts like the holding containers and screens are not as heavy duty, or of the same quality as the machine itself, but this should not be a consideration for buying this product.
