Read First Before Buy Kuvings NS 950 Silent Upright Masticating

I'd seen some reviews of this Kuvings unit claiming it's a knockoff, well, if it is, it does it well. The juicer doesn't feel cheap in the least. It keeps its promise of being "silent", which means it's more silent than the cheaper juicers that are like throwing food at a jet turbine. This juicer slowly but powerfully presses your ingredients through a fine filter, separating the solids from liquid. I was quite amazed at how much juice this unit can actually extract (the only disappointing items are "dry" greens like kale). Setup and tear down are fairly quick, it's easy to clean for the most part (though I had to dig into the solid chute with a knife to get some carrot out). Overall very impressed with this juicer, masticating style is the way to go. My only complaint is I wish the hopper feed hole was larger, it will take a cucumber cut in half the long way fine, but feeding it bulky things like broccoli, kale, or cabbage takes more time.

I have been enjoying fruit smoothies for a long time using my Waring Pro blender. The Vita Mix is touted as the best. By having a Masticating Juicer such as this Kuvings NS-950 takes your nutritional needs to another whole level. If you are new to juicing there is an excellent book here at Amazon called, "Juicing for Weight Loss The Complete Juicing Book Including 50 Healthy and Delicious Juicing Recipes Everything You Need to Know [Kindle Edition]" It is sold at a giveaway price and you can download the free PC Edition of Kindle to take advantage of the price and ease of reading. (I would have put in product links but for some reason when I try to do that it erases my review and gives me a blank page to start over again. It is the first time that ever happened.)
BalasHapusThe main difference between juicing and blending is that with juicing you are compressing the material and squeezing the juice out and discarding the pulp. With a blender you are pulverizing all the contents including the pulp and discarding nothing. The juicer is great for using with greens, vegetables, and salads. The blender is ideal for using with fruit. With fruit and its higher sugar content you want to maintain some of the pulp which aids in slowing down digestion and helps to maintain a lower and more even sugar level in the blood stream. With the vegetables this is not so much of a challenge and a masticating juicer is ideal for this purpose because it discards the pulp and the stems leaving nothing but pure juice for you to drink.
For these reasons getting this masticating juicer in addition to your blender is ideal. You can add powders, wheat germ, protein etc. to a blender but in a masticating juicer they would be separated from the juice and thrown out. I am so excited about the possibilities of weight loss by incorporating juicing on a regular basis into my diet. When I make salads to eat I always load it up with oils or fattening dressings and they also require a lot of chewing. It is so much more convenient to use this Kuvings. Easy cleanup, easy juice production, that looks great sitting on the counter top. I keep it next to the sink which makes it easy to slide over and use.
I bought one of the Breville spinning juicers but they will not do the job anywhere near as well as this one. When you see the pulp that is leaving this juicer, I may be exaggerating, but only by a little bit, the stuff is almost dry; very little waste and super high quality juice. On my first test of the unit, I took a few stalks of celery, rinsed them off in the sink, and put them into the juicer; what came out was something I'll have to describe as pure translucent emerald green. It tasted so sweet and refreshing I knew I was hooked.
This unit works very quietly doesn't make a fuss and doesn't make a mess. It is easier cleanup and work so well you won't find it challenging if you want to go on a juicing fast. I highly recommend that you Google a free online movie called "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". It's a short story about someone who traveled across the country juicing and lost a crazy amount of weight. As I get older losing weight isn't as easy as it used to be. Tackling that job will be all the easier now that I have this Kuvings. I think at this point it is indisputable that eating an abundance of fruits and vegetables is the pathway to abundant health, rapid weight loss and increasing your energy. What else can I say other than this is a great product, all and all highly recommend.
I am a relative "newbie" when it comes to juicing, but before investing in a juicer, I did my homework. I learned that among the various kinds/methods of juicing, that a masticating juicer does the best job of juicing the fruit without oxidizing the juice or heating it beyond "raw" - therefore preserving the enzymes, which are critical to health and the destruction of cancer cells.
BalasHapusFortunately, I was loaned a Green Star juicer which is an amazing and very expensive piece of machinery. I believe the original price tag on it was about $1000.
PROS:
This is truly the quietest appliance in my kitchen. You could easily use this while someone was napping.
It processes the foods more quickly than the Green Star. My husband and I both noted that the foods moved through the shoot rapidly.
We didn't have to do much "pushing". With the Green Star and some others I've witnessed in action, you have to fight the machine to force feed it the fruits and veggies if you want to win the juice prize. This one gobbles them up like a child with ice cream.
It took only a couple of minutes to take this apart and clean the pieces. AND there were less pieces to clean. Compared to some other models which take a considerable amount of time to tear apart and scrub (15 - 30 minutes) this was a cinch.
No pieces of the previous vegetable came out with the following one. It seems to clear the chamber completely after grinding.
It includes the catch basins for juice and pulp and they are a reasonable size. Not true with other models.
The price is excellent for the quality of this model.
CONS:
It doesn't do dishes or memorize recipes.
We have no idea at this point what kind of life expectancy this has.
Based on my limited experience with other juicers this one runs like a dream. Definitely recommended.

I've been juicing for about 8 years now and have owned several juicers. The last juicer I purchased is the one I kept the longest (Breville). I really have loved owning it and it has held up well to daily juicing. I had never personally used a masticating juicer until this one, but was excited to have the opportunity....especially with the idea that I may get more nutritional benefit from using this type of juicer.
BalasHapusThe first thing I noticed when taking the juicer out of the box is its weight. It's a heavy duty appliance and feels sturdy and made of very good materials. It feels like an industrial strength product. I expect it to last.
Upon examining it closely, I thought it might be complicated but it's actually not at all. And when it says it juices slowly, it's really not that slow - for those concerned about time. You can't just throw large fruits and veggies into a large open mouth chute, but it effectively handles the pieces you can fit in it's slightly narrower chute. The pulp comes out drier than any other juicer I've ever used...by a long shot. As it exited into the pulp holder, I kept thinking it reminded of the PlayDoh toy I had as a child...haha. As you put the fruits and veggies in, the juicer pulls them in and begins to juice them. You often don't even have to used the pusher. I don't cut my pieces that small either...just enough to get them in the chute. The finished product turns out as delicious as any juice I've ever made. There is a slight "pulpiness" to the juice, but not like you've find in a store bought high pulp juice. I read that these juices can last longer as well and I have stored it in the fridge and had it 1-2 days later. All tasted great. Also, while not "silent," this is the quietest juicer I've ever used.
Cleanup is still a small chore but is not any more difficult than any other juicer I've used. The cleanup insert does make cleaning the screen easier too. I definitely noticed this is the highest quality screen in any juicer I've ever used as well, and it doesn't get as clogged so cleaning is easier because of that too. My little secret for maintaining my ability to juice everyday and not becoming overwhelmed by the process is that I clean up immediately. I don't let myself take one sip of the juice without having everything cleaned first. It seems to go quickly this way and ensures you don't let it go and make it seem like too much of a chore later.
If appearance of quality means anything, this juicer should last a while. And by the way it easily juiced my items without much effort, the motor seems very powerful. The juice is delicious and I highly recommend this product. I am thrilled to own it, and it is my primary juicer now. If you have any questions, just ask. I will post in the future if there are any reliability issues whatsoever. Love this juicer!

BalasHapusmy family has been juicing with cheap centrifuge juicers for a few years, just buying a new one when the current juicer stops working...I recently started researching online about getting a new juicer that makes healthier juice...enter masticating juicers i researched every day for weeks...and almost purchased another brand and juicer, many times....I went with this one, without any reviews, hoping that the newer, the better....just received my kuvings....so we had to use it! went into my garden and got a beet, some broccoli, some celery (the tough one), and dinosaur kale! everything went smoothly, minimal pulp, but lots of foam...we juice everyday, so this juicer will get lots of use and I needed the 10 year warrently.Great juicer! So far, so good...will post after some more wear
BalasHapusWe've been using Juicers for a few years now and this machine is one of the most steady performers we've had. On top of that it's INCREDIBLY easy to clean. And assembling the pieces again is made just as easy by intuitive indicators. I didn't even need the manual, but it did come with a cool booklet of recipes.
BalasHapusThe quality of engineering is obvious from the above mentioned attributes, but the internals all show it off even further. It looks like the same kind of forward-thinking design that you see in brands like Dyson. It's futuristic, clean and elegant enough to leave on the counter.
We're VERY happy. I'd reccomend this machine to anyone who uses a juicer. It's easy to learn for newbies and easy to operate for pros.
I have had the NS950 for a year. It has been the best investment we have made. We use it at least once a day and have been impressed with its ability to turn the hardest vegetables into juice. I have had many other juicers, this one by far has shown it to be worth every dollar. Bravo Kuvings!!!
