To be happy with this product you have to solve one problem and understand another problem.
1-Buy a stick lubricant such as Door Ease from Amazon, hardware store, auto store, etc. and rub it on the gears after removing the bottom cover held by four small screws. It has no smell and will stay in place. Do not use oil or grease. The gears will run much smoother and you will use less effort.
2-A press squeezer will not remove every speck of juice but is fast and very easy to clean(under a minute). If you want to remove every speck of juice buy an electric twirler juicer in which you can move the half orange back and forth with your hand but be aware they are a nuisance to clean and will take more time then this juicer. We use it for two glasses of juice every morning and are very happy with it.

The one that I've been using for about 20 years finally gave out last month and the reason I'm on this site is to find another one. It makes the best fresh sqeezed orange juice and also works equally well with lemons and limes. I can't wait until I get the replacement. I was hoping to find one in a store so I won't have to wait for the mail order to arrive.

Works great with oranges - you just cut them in half first.It is so easy to clean-up too.It extracts a large amount of juice from every piece of fruit and is so simple to operate. You definitely get the most juice out of this that one could squeeze from a piece of fruit.I too have noticed metal shavings - but only around the top of the device where the gears come out of. With the machine properly assembled, I do not see how the shavings could fall down into the juice.I have not noticed any other problems like a foot being loose or anything like that. The frame on mine is one solid piece of metal so I'm not sure how the steel could easily break.

BalasHapusAfter 30 years of service our mighty OJ juicer broke down. I was so sadden by this because this juicer has been part of our family providing nourishing wholesome juice for a growing family. Now when my adult children come home for a visit, they reach for the pitcher of fresh juice, knowing that MOM cares enough to have it on hand. As for larger pieces of fruit, rather than losing valuable juice, I would quarter the fruits that were to be squeezed, maximizing every drop to be squeezed from the fruit. I prefer using this juicer over electric because of its portability and at family gathering, everyone would help make juice.
