Read First Before Buy KitchenAid KFPCJ Citrus Attachment Processors

The Juice Fountain Elite is the first juicer that I have owned and I have had it for about a month now. My juicer appeared brand new and came with its manual and cleaning brush. I find it works well with hard fruits and vegetables (apples, carrots, beets, celery, ginger) and some softer fruits and vegetables (watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers). By "well" I mean that the waste product is dry and I don't feel like I've lost a lot of juice. However, it seems to make a mess of berries and leafy veggies (spinach, cabbage). On the bright side, there are lots of different juice combinations with the fruits and vegetables that do work well in the juicer. In addition, the clean up is easy. Though everything is dishwasher safe, I rarely bother since it is faster just to rinse the parts in the sink. I also like the fact that it is relatively quite. I wouldn't try to carry on a conversation while juicing, but the machine doesn't assault my senses first thing in the morning when I make my breakfast.

Excellent juicer. Concentrate when you are using it so you won't bruise your fingertips.
BalasHapusThe negative reviewers, obviously don't know how to use this handy attachment.
BalasHapusIt comes with a hinged citrus cover, for good reason. You place the fruit over the juicer, and lower the cover; sparing any contact between your hand, and the spinniung extractor. Gentle pressure is all thats required to fully juice any piece of fruit. If you're getting rind, simply stop the machine, re-orient the fruit, and continue. Its also got 2 spindles, for larger, and smaller fruit. As was mentioned, trying to do key limes(which are only about the size of a golf ball), well, there are more appropriate tools, as they are exceedingly small. Try a lemon reamer. Does wonders for anything from lemons, up to giant sized grapefruit. I use it all the time.
I was apprehensive when I purchased this juicer attachement after reading the other review on this site. However, I have been so pleased with KitchenAid and their products (I have many other attachments for my 11-cup food processor) that I decided to try it anyway. My opinion after using the juicer: five stars! It's simple to use. Just hold the halved citrus fruit over the cone and hit the pulse button. Presto! Instant juice! This is perfect for the busy cook who hasn't the time or patience to juice a lemon for that avgolemono soup... :) I recommend this product highly, had no problems with it at all, and am thrilled that I bought it.
BalasHapusThe citrus juicer is excellent -- quick and efficient, although it does allow just a little pulp to come through. Be sure to place the fruit evenly on the cone.
BalasHapusMy citrus press came with my 11-cup food processor and it came with a lever arm that protects your fingers. Occasionally, I use mine without the arm and sometimes I hurt my fingers, sometimes not. You have to be careful and pay attention to what you are doing. This beats a separate appliance any day and it is dishwasher safe.
If you buy the attahcment from the Kitchenaid site, you have a choice in buying one with or without the lever arm. The lever arm is $10 more, but I think it is worth it.
